June Challenge Cards

Happy Saturday!  I know it isn't the end of the month, but since we've finished the challenge early, I wanted to post the cards.  Here was the challenge:

First up is Regina's card.  Isn't this beautiful?  Regina has such a talent for color; either coloring an image, or putting colors together.  I really like how she managed to frame the image so that it really stands out on the card.  The flower embellishments in the corners add just the right touch.  I also love the lacy border underneath the sentiment.  Love it, Regina!  Thank you for joining us :)  For more of Regina's lovely creations, please visit her blog here.

Next is Michelle's card and it ROCKS!  I love this card - what a great card for a teen.  There are so many things I love about this card:  The way she used the images and colors, the corner images and embellishments, and the speckled white piece - it just works so nicely!

The next image is the inside of her card - not only did she do an amazing job on the front, but look at the work she did on the inside!  Michelle, you rocked this challenge!  I love this card!

This next card was the first one I made for this challenge.  My sister (Debbie Naylor) celebrated her birthday at the end of May.  I wanted to use this stamp set for her and decided to use this challenge to help me.  She has two adorable dogs, so I thought she'd get a kick out of this.

This next card is the one I really had in mind to do when I was thinking about the colors, it was close to Memorial Day, and I wanted to thank all those that have and continue to serve.

If you decide to join us in the challenge, please do!  I'll be happy to post your creation :)
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend!

June Challenge

Happy June!  I really loved this sketch from last year and thought it would be fun to use it again and to be ready to celebrate Independence Day.  This time though, I thought it would be fun to use the new In Colors.  Join us and let's see your creations!

Another Design Challenge Card!

I posted a little too quickly today!  My friend Regina made a card for this month's challenge - check it out!  She did an amazing job.  I love the way she used the colors on this card; simple, yet elegant!  The stamped image is very cute with the cut out and popped up umbrella piece.  I love the addition of the bling too - looks just like rain drops.  Love your card, Regina!  Thanks so much for joining us!

Lieben Sie Ihre Karte, Regina! Dank soviel für die Verbindung wir!

May Design Cards

Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Everyone!

Just a quick post today with our challenge cards.

Here's the challenge:  Use the colors provided and make a center step card.

First up is Michelle's card - isn't it bright, fun, and awesome?  I love her use of colors - that DSP is adorable!  And, I love the way she framed out the center image using both fancy shapes and ovals.  The flowers, bling, and ribbon give it that extra special touch too.  And, aren't the sentiments across the bottom clever?  I love these banner framed sentiments - they are just perfect for this card!

Love it, Michelle!

Next is my card.  This was a challenge for me since I'd never attempted a center step card.  I didn't realize it was going to be more square.  But, I like it and will attempt more in the future.

I knew I wanted to do some kind of sea scene using my new whale die.  The colored DSP made it easier for me since I didn't stamp anything but the whale's spout!  The pendents across the top helped me fill in a lot of empty space, but I like how it turned out.  With the punch, it is quick and easy.  I believe the stars and fish are also on the whale die - so cute!

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day.

New Technique

I learned a new technique, thanks to my fellow SULD Stampin Sister Gaylyn P (thanks Gaylyn!).  You use reinkers and a straw - very cool!  It takes some practice, but I love that each time you do it, you get a unique image.

After seeing her demo this technique, I thought about what I wanted to do.  The first thing that came to mind was a sea/sun scene.  I'm not sure anyone else will get this, but it made sense to me at the time! LOL

After this, I thought about how the ink lines look like jellyfish tentacles.  It is almost eerie, but I love it!  I also incorporated another technique I saw demoed by fellow SULD Stamper  Kathy K!  Kathy showed us how to make faux metal images using Versamark and embossing powder.  I didn't stamp anything, but loved the thick look and wanted to use it on my jellyfish body.  I used my frosted Versamark and clear embossing powder - It has a very cool shimmery effect.  Not sure it comes through on this picture though.

When I first saw Gaylyn demo this technique, I though that her image looked so much like modern art that I love.  So, I wanted to create a piece that reminds me of some favorite pieces I've seen in bold basic colors.  I love the simplicity of this one!

I decided to try it again and place it on crisp, sharp lined pieces to contrast the non-conforming lines of the ink.  I like how this one turned out too.

Anyway, it is a very cool and fun technique that is full of possibilities!  Hope you try it too!

Have a great day and thanks for looking!
