Punch It!

Today's challenge was a challenge for sure!  Today's challenge was punch art - we were to create a project using punch art.  I thought and thought on this for days!  Finally, a scarecrow popped into my head. Don't ask me why!

Anyway, I sat down and this is what I created - he was too big for a card, so I decided to stick him in a shadowbox and put some haystacks next to him.  I think I'll put him out in the Fall as a decoration!

I used the Bohemian DSP for the hat, clothes, and patches.  I used Delightful Dijon for the hay, cutting it with my Fringe Scissors and then running it through a crimper.

Face:  Naturals Ivory cardstock punched out using 1 1/2" circle punch

Eyes:  Black cardstock punched out using the tear drop shape from the Tree Builder punch and then putting pearls inside

Nose:  Tangelo Twist cardstock punched out using Tree punch - very tip

Cheeks:  Blushing Bride punched out from Owl Builder punch

Overalls - Bohemian DSP punched out from Note Tag Punch and Tree Punch

Hat - Bohemian DSP punched out from Oval Punch (and folded over) and Tree Punch

Patches - Bohemian DSP just cut with scissors

Smile - SU! Black marker drawn by hand :)

I'll probably open it back up and have him hold a banner in the Fall.  But for now, he is done!

Thanks With A Cup Of Tea

Today's challenge was to make a Thank You card.  I decided to use my Have A Cuppa DSP stack again.  I just love the colors and papers in this assortment!

Here's the card I made - It's pretty simple:

I just used one piece of the DSP.  I then used some accompanying colored cardstock (Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry) and cut them out using the matching Cups and Kettles Framelits Dies.  I stamped the sentiments from the Petite Pairs and A Nice Cuppa stamp sets in Memento Tuxedo Black.  Then, I added the Bermuda Bay Stitched Ribbon and Pearls.  That's it - very simple and easy.  So, you could easily make a bunch of these quickly!

It's All About The Numbers

This week, it's all about numbers!

I'm sure my niece doesn't read my blog, so I'm okay posting this birthday card I made her ;)  Her birthday is next month and she'll be 17 - what, what?  When did that happen?  I fell in love with the Large Numbers Framelit Dies as soon as I saw them and had to have them.  I also fell in love with the It's My Party DSP.  That stack has some amazing papers!  I love that you get a ton of them too.  These framelits allow you to do so many cool things.   SU! really gave us some cool matching accessories for this birthday theme and I love them all!  It was hard not to use them all :)  But, I decided on just a couple.  I love this matching Baker's Twine, so I decided to use a bit of it. 

 I couldn't not use the cut out 17, so decided to use it on the inside of the card with some punched out balloons in matching cardstock colors.

This was a very fast and simple card to make, but I hope she'll like it!

It's Tea Time!

This week's Sisters In Stamping theme was to create something coffee or tea inspired.  I've been down with a cold and now a sinus infection, so tea has been welcome in my hands lately!  That's huge for me since you always see me with coffee in my hands.  I think if I cut myself, coffee runs out!

Anyway, I love the new matching cup stamp set, paper, and framelits, don't you?  The colors in the  Have a Cuppa DSP stack are so cute too!

Here's the card I created this week:

I used papers from the Cuppa DSP stack and cardstock colors to match the stack:  Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, and Whisper White.  I stamped the sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set using Memento ink.  I also added the Silver Baker's Twine for the tea bag.

Easter Cards

This week's Sisters In Stamping theme is "Easter Cards"!  This was great for me because it helped me get a jump start on my Easter cards :)

I loved this little lamb stamp as soon as I saw it and had to have it.

I also love vellum!  This Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Stack has some beautiful designs.  I decided to pair the stamp with the vellum and also the In Colors!  I have to admit, I have not embraced this year's In Colors as I have past ones.  So, I decided to use each color.  Since there are 5 different vellum designs, it was perfect for using with the 5 In Colors!

 Above are all 5 cards.  The first card I assembled was on the Watermelon Wonder cardstock.  I used the Tombow glue on the back of the Watermelon Wonder cardstock to adhere to the Whisper White cardstock card. It had a weird effect on the vellum even though the glue didn't come anywhere near the vellum!  It still made it ripple like it was a little wet.  I don't know why it did that.  So, I didn't use the Tombow glue for the other 4 cards.  Instead, I used the a roller adhesive on the back of the In Color cardstock.  It worked perfectly.

 I stamped the lamb image using Staz On.  I have found that it is the only ink that doesn't smear on vellum and dries nicely.  I then used my In Color markers to color in the lamb's cheeks, ears, hooves, and the grass.

 Hopefully, you can see the vellum patterns on each of these - so cute!  I thought they matched well with my little lamb.

Little Wildflowers

Happy Friday!


The Sisters In Stamping wanted to remind you that it's not too late to get some great freebies during Sale-A-Bration when you place a $50 order with a Stampin Up! demonstrator.  Today, we will all feature products using SAB products.


I got a lot of free SAB products and love them all!  I've already used the Sky Is The Limit stamp set with the Perfectly Artistic Designer Series Paper - they are just meant to be used together!  This time, I'm using another perfectly teamed stamp set and paper - Flowering Fields stamp set and Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper.


Here are the cards I designed:

I decided to make two since I was cutting two diagonals of two different Wildflower Fields papers.  I wanted to see what they would look like on two different colored cardstocks too.

The first one is layered on Lost Lagoon cardstock.

The second is layered on Old Olive.


I like the look of both, but I think the feel is slightly different, don't you?  I stamped the fern looking flower in Old Olive.  I used the third stamped off image as the first and second were too strong. I stamped the first and second on a scrap piece and then stamped the third on this piece of card stock.  I did it again so as to give a little more of a background.  Then, I stamped the flower image using black Memento.  I colored in the flower using my blender pen and pulling the Blackberry Bliss ink off of the stamp pad's lid.  I tried using the marker, but it was so dark, you couldn't see the flower and its petals, so I decided to use the blender pen.  I then colored in the leaves using the Old Olive marker.  I stamped the butterflies in Tangelo Twist and colored them in using the Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon markers.  I stamped the "Thank You" sentiment (from the Perfect Pairings stamp set) in black Memento and punched it out using a 1 inch circle punch.

Mint & Chocolate

Mint and Chocolate - two things that go very well together!  That's this week's challenge over at the Sisters-in-Stamping blog.  Jennifer picked two things I love!  The color mint was one of my signature colors in the 80s.  I've never stopped loving it and have been so happy that the color has come back in style in the past couple years!  I'm buying it up like crazy :)  I also love the taste of mint in anything, especially when mixed with chocolate.  How could you not????

I immediately thought of chocolate mint candies when I saw the challenge.  So, I had to make a favor box.  I fell in love with this Curvy Keepsakes Box - it's so easy to assemble too!

Here's what I made:

I just used Chocolate Chip cardstock to make the Curvy Keepsake Box.  Then, I used the Mint Macaron cardstock and the Bow Builder Punch to make the pretty bow.  It was still needing something, so I stamped the "It's For You" sentiment (from the Amazing Birthday set) on Mint cardstock using Chocolate ink.  I cut it out using the round label thinlit that comes with the Curvy Keepsake Box thinlit.  It even cuts out the hole for ribbon and string!  I tied the label on with the new Mint/Black Baker's Twine.

It's simple, but I love it.  I'd love to receive this filled with some mint chocolates, wouldn't you?  Yum!
