Punch Storage

I bought a couple of CD/DVD stands from BJ's a couple years ago to hold my punches and love them. I'm running out of room though! I was browsing my Brylane catalog and now they have a similar bookshelf. A friend bought the CD/DVD stands from Brylane and she said she loved them, but they weren't quite right to hold the punches (Hey Sherri!) For anyone looking for punch storage, this is a great way to store them! Brylane even has a coupon - I may have to get this too! Get $10 off $50 or more. Use coupon code BHASPRING2 at checkout. Expires 6/30.
Happy Friday and weekend to everyone!

Father-in-Law's Fathers Day Card

First, Happy Memorial Day to everyone!

My Father-in-law loves airplanes. He served in the Greek military, but did not get to fly. I thought I'd try to use my punches to make him an airplane Fathers Day card. I would have liked to make it smaller so I could have a stream of words being pulled by the plane, but wanted to use the star brads to make it look like the older WWII planes. So, I decide to make it larger. I hope he'll like it!

I used SU! punches: Key Tag, Small Oval, Wide Oval, and Word Window. I used Fun Expressions! Flower punch.

Papers: Navy (non-SU!) textured paper, Shimmery White, Brushed Silver, and Baja Breeze

I used the SU! star brads and a non-SU! brushed silver brad.

Thanks and have a great day!

A Flower For All Seasons – Yellow Flowers

Day 4 card – I know I’ve used this paper before, but I love the way it matches the daisies in my stamped image. I did color in the yellow daisy centers on the design paper with an orange glitter pen to really make it match. I love the curly label shape and wanted to use the Top Note die, Curly Label punch, and the Movers and Shapers Curly Label die together. It’s great that the punched out piece from the Movers and Shapers Curly Label die is just a smidge larger than the Curly Label punch. So, it frames it perfectly! I decided to cut the scored outline from the Top Note die so that the yellow cardstock underneath the flower paper would show through. I didn’t want to add too much to take away from the shape, so I only added a little ribbon. This little frog is just so darn cute, I can’t help but smile J I hope it makes you smile too. Thanks for taking the time to look! Have a great day.

Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons
Ink: Memento Black
Paper: DCWV Glitter Stack paper, Yoyo Yellow and Watercolor paper.
Accessories: SAI Watercolor markers, SU! Top Note Die, Yoyo Yellow Grosgrain ribbon, Curly Label Punch, Movers and Shapers Curly Label Die, and Spica Orange Glitter Pen.

A Flower For All Seasons – Pink Flowers

Day 3 card – I started this card by trying to find some paper to match the pink flowers. I found this paper from the Sweet Stack DCWV and had to use it! Again, I wanted to not use ribbon and challenge myself while also using some of the accessories that I seem to be hoarding! I used two of the brads I made with my new obsession - glitter - this weekend as well as a bunch of SU! brads.

I think this will be my older niece’s birthday card this year. It just looks like something I would have loved at her age and I hope she loves it too! Thanks so much for looking and have a really good day!

Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons
Ink: Memento Black
Paper: DCWV Sweet Stack paper, Regal Rose, Lavender Lace, and Watercolor paper.
Accessories: SAI Watercolor markers, Filigree Brads, Rhinestone Brads, Flower Brads, Build-a-Brad, and Pink Glitter from the SU! Fine Supernova pack.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

A Flower For All Seasons – Cardinal

This is Day 2 of my Flower For All Seasons cards. Again, I centered the DSP over the SU! Movers and Shapers Curly Label Die. I ran a piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock through the Top Note Die. I then layered everything on a Chocolate Chip card, wrapped the ribbon, and felt this one was done! Although the red of the watercolor marker is a little stronger than the cardstock and DSP, I still like the way the image pops through the punch. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons
Ink: Memento Black
Paper: Holiday Treasures DSP, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, and Watercolor paper

A Flower For All Seasons - Day 1

I love this set - A Flower For All Seasons. It's cute and fun to color! Last weekend, I broke out my watercolor paper and assorted pens. I found that this set was perfect for my SAI watercolor markers. I'm hopeless with the aqua painter, but love the look of watercoloring. These markers are perfect for smaller areas and give that great watercolor look. I spent last weekend coloring, but didn't do anything with the images. I decided that this week I will post one card a day using those images!

I first ran the yellow cardstock through the SU! texturz plates - I used the smaller dots. Then, instead of putting a whole piece of cardstock in the Movers and Shapers Curly Label Die, I centered the curly label magnetic piece and then centered my cardstock within the punch-out area. In an effort to use the things I have and not to put ribbon on every card (this is so hard for me!), I used some brads I made last weekend when I was playing with the glitters.

This first card makes me smile and I hope it puts a smile on your face too! Thanks for dropping by and have a great day!

Stamps: A Flower For All Seasons

Glittery Flower Pot Card

I couldn't find directions on how to make one of these, but I love the way they look. So, I pieced one together using the glitter flowers I made. I just love how shiny they are! I wish you all a very happy and fun weekend!

Ladybug Birthday

On my quest to use things I bought and haven't ever used, I broke out these sticky sheet bugs that I bought from a scrapbooking convention two years ago! I used the SU! glitters and Crystal Effects and love how they look. The Crystal Effects really does enhance the glitter. The picture just doesn't do it justice! BUT, the bonus is that it contains the glitter and you don't have a mess when you handle the card after it is dry. I love that part of it too! I also got to use two new stamps! TFL and have a great day!

Stamps: Darling Dots and Birthday Wish

Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, and White

Ink: Real Red Classic

Accessories: White ribbon, Marvy punches, and sticky sheet insects (sorry, don't remember company name - will come back and post it later.)

Watercolor Copics

I wanted to use my Copics and wondered how they would be on watercolor paper. They work great! I'm totally aqua painter challenged, so this is a great alternative for me. I don't have a lot of large images, but found this set and knew it would be fun to try. I just love these two images. TFL and have a great day!
Stamps: Serene Spring, Happy Harmony, and Simple Delights
Paper: Watercolor paper, Basic Gray, Brilliant Blue, White, Only Orange, Yoyo Yellow, Wild Wasabi, and Chocolate Chip
Ink: Memento Black

Embossing With Classic Inks

My friend Sarah went to the Seattle Regional Stampin' Up! convention. She said that they shared a tip to make your classic ink available for embossing. They said to add the white chalk ink refill to your classic ink reinker and emboss as normal. I decided to try it. BUT, I also wanted to see what would happen if I added the class ink refill to Versamark refill. I remembered I had bought this stuff called Cut-n-Dry (by Inkssentials) at a scrapbook convention I attended a couple years ago. It's kind of cool - you can cut to any size and add ink to it to make your own ink pad. It was perfect for my test. I cut two small squares; one for the classic ink/white chalk refills and one for the classic ink/Versamark refill. I used the butterfly from the Great Friends set as it has a lot of negative space to stamp. Well, after stamping several times from each and embossing, I don't really see that much of a difference. I thought the chalk refill would lighten the color of the classic ink. It did very slightly, but not as much as I had expected. So, if you want to emboss with your classic ink, you should try this! Thanks for dropping by and have a great day!

Happy Birthday Sarah!

This is a card I made for a friend and fellow demonstrator, Sarah Eller - it's her birthday today (Happy Birthday wishes to you, Sarah!). I wanted to make another card using the double sticky sheets and glitter. I also wanted to use a new embosslit. So, this is what I came up with. TFL and have a great weekend everyone!

Paper: Ruby Red (classic ink), Garden Green, and Summer Sun
Accessories: Sweetest Stem embosslit, punches, ribbons, choc. chip glitter, and crystal effects

SULD April Swap

I belong to a great group of demonstrators named the SU Little Debbies (named after our upline and my sister Debbie Naylor!). We do a swap once a month and it has been challenging, but fun! For April, we were to CASE anything out of the Spring/Summer 09 catalog. I chose the card on the bottom of page 108. I'm sorry, but can't seem to paste a copy here.
I was going to use the SAB So Saffron ribbon, but remembered we must use current items only! So, I was looking at my ribbons to figure out what colors to use. I decided to use my pink pirouette striped ribbon and loved it against the almost amethyst. I don't have the letters and didn't really want to cut letters out, so I decided to use the "thank you" stamp from the Enjoy Every Moment set. I love looking through the catalog, but end up looking at the stamps instead of the samples. This was a great swap as it made me really look at each and every sample in the catalog. I hope we do this again with the new catalog! Thanks for dropping by.

Stamps: Seeing Spots set and Enjoy Every Moment set

Cardstock and Ink: Almost Amethyst, Basic Black, and White

Accessories: Pink Pirouette Striped Ribbon and Silver Brads

Another Mother's Day Card

My mother left for Japan this morning, to be with her sister, my aunt while she recovers from a procedure. My poor mother is still on a plane and won't get to her destination until tomorrow morning. That's one long flight! Anyway, I thought I had another week before she left and then realized that I didn't give her a Mother's Day card! So, I'm going to send one to both my mom and aunt. I just got this set and think it is so beautiful. I colored in the little flowers with a pink glitter pen. I colored the stamp with my markers. I hope they enjoy these. TFL and to all the mothers out there, I wish you a very happy day this coming Sunday!

Stamps: Thoughts and Prayers (SU!) and Notes to Mom (Gina K)

Paper: Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, and Certainly Celery DSP from Prints Sampler pack
